How to Create and design SEO-Friendly URL Structure

best seo friendly url structure  :

seo friendly url structure

One of the most basic search engine optimization techniques is in using SEO-friendly URL structures. A good structure can help the indexation process of your website, but, unfortunately, there are plenty of websites that use incorrect, suboptimal URLs. In this article we take a look at the various elements of a URL and how we can create a structure that will help us rank as highly as possible.

Mind File Extensions
URLs that end in .html are favored by search engines. There are exceptions to this so make sure that you know your system well and that it’s friendly with search engine requirements.

Spammy URLs
If you still have certain doubts about your URL, go to a resource like seomoz.com There are spam detection tools that will help weed out things like spam words, and give you tips on hyphens, sub domain depth, domain length and digits. Again, all of this information is freely available online.

Hyphen vs. Underscores
The websites that contain an underscore in their URL are starting to become scarcer. The general belief now is that a user who is doing a Google search for “blue widget” will get better results from http://www.blue.com/blue-widget thanhttp://www.blue.com/blue_widget. Times change, and these protocols change as well.

Re-writing Your URLs
Lots of URLs that used to contain characters like &, +, =, _, $ and % are being overhauled to include more user- and search engine-friendly forward-slashes. This can get tricky, but there are plenty of tools out there to help facilitate this. Some are free open-source tools, and some are fee-based. The technical term is a “URL Mod-Rewrite” and this can easily be done via the .htaccess file on most servers.

Content optimization techniques for SEO

Content optimization techniques

Content in the website is one of the most important parts for a website as well as it is also the most valuable element for SEO

Theming Content

The first question you need to ask yourself when optimizing a page is, What is the Page About?
If you can’t answer this or your answer is a keyword, then maybe you shouldn’t be building the page. Seriously. You need the page to be about something in order for it to have value on your website.
In the case of my client, the page was about a conference in Los Angeles where the company was going to exhibit. It’s starting to make sense now, isn’t it? Specifically, the page was about a single type of software it sells. Let’s call it Software A.

Putting Content Into Context

The second question you need to ask yourself is, What is the Purpose of This Page?
Is it news, a press release, a blog post, an educational piece, a sales piece? What are your goals with the page?
In my client’s case, the goal was to announce that it would be at the event and give a little bit of background about Software A. I’d call it a press release.

Consider Content Timing

The third consideration is: How long will this content remain relevant?
  • Is it an educational piece that will always be useful?
  • Is it a product explanation that will be relevant until the next version comes out?
  • Is it a news item that will always be interesting?
  • Is it an event that will recur?
In my client’s case, the page was about an event that would happen once (next week, in fact) and then be over.

Content Optimization

Finally, we get to optimization for search. Given the other questions you’ve asked, what makes sense for optimization?
  • Are there relevant keywords to use?
  • Should you include links to other content?
  • What should the Title, Description and Heading say?

Making Decisions

The answer is, it depends. Don’t apply a one-size-fits-all method to your optimization. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense to even put keywords on a page. Sometimes a few well-optimized links are all you need. Either way, the answer is common sense.
In my client’s case, they were putting out a news item about a conference for Software A in LA next week. I chose two key phrases in the text and linked them back to Software A’s pages. I chose a Title and Heading that read something like, “Company Presents Software A at Conference.” Anything beyond that would have been overkill.
So next time you’re wondering how to optimize a page, first use the handy chart below.

Strategies to make search engine ranking constant

HOW TO DO STABLE SEARCH ENGINE RANKING

How to keep the website rank constant?

According to my experience, Google has a little bit its own decision to fluctuate results. My suggestion regarding this that perform proper competitive analysis to your competitors. those who are upper than you in the rank, perform complete analysis on all of these that what they are doing which you are not.

"While not difficult, it does take time and effort to optimize your website for Google and other major search engines. After you get the ranking, the work doesn't end, as constant monitoring, tweaking and optimizing is needed to keep your rank. So you can do exactly that, some SEO maintenance tips are given below.

As the Google's algorithm is highly confidential and we cannot assume the real factor, we cannot do a constant sort of process for keeping your position in top place. Fluctuation is an usual thing in Google SERPs. But keep trying on writing more quality contents and trying to get the more visitors.Don't stop off page activities. If you think that you have done excess then lack the number of submission but be regular.

As you said you have generated enough backlinks...Very first thing analyse again those backlinks. If you find any backlink of low quality or suspicious remove it instantly otherwise you may lose your current position also as Google is now focusing more on link profiles. If you have a clean and clear backlink profile, your site will automatically rank high. Keep up the good work..

You should do quality work for your site. You should collect good quality backlink. You should do on page of your site change the content of your site if it is copied to other and generate meta for all the pages of your website.

Page rank is not a significant ranking factor?

The only experimental proof I’ve seen regarding the effects of domain page rank on Google search engine result positions. SEO experts in reputable SEO forums says page rank is not a significant ranking factor.

I have conducted a study to confirm if this is a fact, and it is. I sampled 25 different keywords at random and gather the top one URL until Position 50.
The domain (homepage) page rank data are then gathered simultaneously from multipagerank.com.

Finally I then perform ANOVA (Analysis of variance) statistical analysis to compare the means of page rank each at Position 1, Position 2, Position three and so on until Position 50.If the result of the ANOVA is statistically different this means that domain page rank has some affect on Search engine rankings. If not, this is not a factor in ranking.
Please see below for the plot of the analysis:
Based on this plot, apparently the variations among the statmax (mean + standard deviation) and statmin(mean-standard deviation) are very similar. Graphically we can say domain page rank has no significant affect on Google ranking. Now, to confirm this, a ANOVA is conducted with the following hypothesis:
Null Hypothesis: Domain Page rank has no effect on Google search engine ranking.
Alternative Hypothesis: Domain page rank has effect on Google search engine ranking.
Confidence level: 95%
Rejection/Acceptance of Hypothesis Criteria:
1. Accept null hypothesis if anova p-value is greater than 0.05
2. Reject null hypothesis if anova p-value is less than 0.05
Below are the ANOVA result:
Based on the result, p-value is about 0.65 so it means to accept the null hypothesis that domain page rank has no effect in Google search engine ranking.
What this study suggests in your quest for high search engine ranking?
1. Do not be obsessed with domain page rank when you want to rank high in Google.
2. Do not focus on increasing your page rank to increase your ranking.
3. High page rank does not mean high relevance (as high position results in Google are high relevant results to a search query).

Negative ON Page SEO Techniques to Avoid

·         Avoid Using "hidden" or invisible text on your page for the purpose of higher search engine placement. For example the words/text for search phrase "Widget" in the html, the font color has been set to White. The background of the page is also white. Therefore the textual content is actually there, however the words are "hidden" from the surfer. This is frowned upon by search engines and frequently results in your site being penalized
·         Avoid Using Negative
htmltags. Div tags, Div tags are division tags. Unscrupulous seo services may insert them into your page with negative x/y coordinates to place content outside of the visible page for the surfer, but the text itself is in the html page. The search engine finds the keywords in the text, yet the surfer does not see it. Again a technique to be avoided and not recommended under any circumstances
·         Avoid Cloaking or Sneaky Redirects. Cloaking refers to serving up 2 different types of content based on the visitor who is visiting. Is the visitor a regular web surfer, serve up this page. Is the visitor a search engine spider? Serve up this OTHER page specifically for the search engine spider. The other page being served up is typically garbled textual content with no meaning to a human, and is stuffed with various keywords and search phrases. Again this technique is not recommended and will likely get your site penalized or banned from search engines
·         Avoid duplicate content. Duplicate content means you create one web site, with content on topic a, and then repeat the content over and over again on multiple websites. In theory you could create one website, achieve high ranking on it, and then clog up the search engines with the same content duplicated on multiple domains. Again this is not recommended and should be avoided

Best SEO Website Optimization Techniques

1. Title Tags
Your title tags can be anything that you want them to be, because it is what is going to show at the vary top of the page.Something you'll want to consider though is to make sure you are including some keywords to help with optimization. And, will interest your shopper in clicking on the items in question.

2. Meta Descriptions
Meta tag description is a statement of what the site is all about. When crafting one, think of the snippet from the search engine that you want to be seen, as most search engines pick up what you have stated in your meta description tag as your site description.

3. Alt Tags
Alt attributes are a way to describe images to search spiders simply because search spiders cannot see them. It is not only an opportunity to add more content (with keywords) to your site, but it also helps your images to be searchable on Google. For best results, all images should also have distinct filenames.

4. Sitemap.xml
Make sure all your web pages are on the sitemap, unless you have private pages that you don't want to be indexed, they can be excluded with a robots.txt file,The best way to do a site map is with this free sitemap generator - www.xml-sitemaps.com - you can do one for yahoo or google and also one in html - all automatically.

5. Robots.txt
Robots.txt is a text (not html) file you put on your site to tell search robots which pages you would like them not to visit. Robots.txt is by no means mandatory for search engines but generally search engines obey what they are asked not to do.
